DG 120 vs Modus 120

Does anyone have experience with both of these shafts?

I am about to purchase the T150's and currently play the S400 TI in my 712 CB......im looking for something lighter, but nothing "whippy" as I do not want to lose any control. Im looking for a nice feeling, low to mid launch shaft that maintains a nice ball flight with minimal dispersion.

Any help would be appreciated

How did you go? I play the LZ and also find it too soft in the midsection which causes me to overdraw the ball. Wondering on what you settled on. Cheers

If you're buying quality equipment, don't fall for it. Focus on puring your shots, not the shaft.

For about 20 years I would visit my close friend and “PGA teaching pro” every two years for a high level evaluation of my swing specs. The end result, for the most part, resulted in the same out come, 2° upright with a 1/2” half inch added to the Project X5.5 shaft. Life got in the way and I got older and hadn’t had it done for five years. I started to doubt that my swing was the same. This last time, I let 4 years go by and I wanted to once again eliminate doubts about my swing and equipment. This time I wanted to get fit by someone that doesn’t know me, my game or my ability (now up to a 6 handicap). Simply look at my swing/results, swap out shafts and heads, then recommend equipment based on the results. After a couple hours, the science paid off and we made proper equipment changes (stayed with Titleist ) With all that said, I have a couple questions; for you that know about puring a shaft, or have had it done, do you believe a premium/upgraded shaft needs it? How often do you have your swing evaluated (check your specs)?

Don, I couldn’t believe it but that commercial was still running the other day, selling those stupid ball balance markers. It’s so old it is blurry from not being filmed in HD and doesn’t fit the TV screen at 4:3 ratio.

It's another way for CC and TS to charge you another $300 for a set of irons. Tour trucks don't pure shafts, so no, you don't need it either.

The fact that it's even a debate should tell you most of what you need to know. If I was on tour where .05 shots a round over the course of a season actually mattered and I didn't have to pay for it? Sure, because it can't hurt. But for an amateur golfer that's only gonna play his club championship or a state Mid-Am? It's the biggest con-job going. You won't notice a single bit of difference on even decent shafts.

Remember the golf aids that would help find the true weight into order to have the ball roll correctly. Maybe 20 years ago that was useful. Even the other major OEM ball makers are catching up with Titleist on balls with better balance from the factories.

Golf shaft technology is also advancing to the point that purring shafts is more of a confidence factor than a necessity. Some of the custom club building shop still recommend it. Titleist doesn’t offer it on factory custom orders. That’s good enough for me.

My son finally went to his first Titleist fitting after a rough '25 season. He is a 3.2 index with tour level speed (125 club /180 ball ) & distance (290 carry). He is playing a TSR 2 driver with stock Hzrdus stiff 70 g 9 degree driver. His idea of a fitting was to hit a few clubs at the bay of a national retailer and pick a club based on feel.

He was fitted by Andy Inman. It was an eye opening experience. After one hour, Andy had him fit into a GT 3 11 degree with an 80 g Tensi White 1k pro. Andy took a quick look at his '23 T100s. Of course, the shafts were to light and not stiff enough. Once he saves some $, he will be back to get fitted for irons & wedges.

Golf equipment is a financial investment so it makes sense to get it right. More importantly, the proper equipment will definitely make the game more enjoyable. A fitting will not fix the swing or eliminate bad shots but the bad shots wont be as bad and the good shots will be even better.

This past week I went to get fit for clubs at the Manchester Lane Facility. This was my first time getting fitted for clubs and I wanted to create this thread to talk about my experience and allow others to share their experiences of getting fitted for clubs.

The facility was absolutely gorgeous even in the winter, and the hospitality from all of the Titleist staff was above and beyond. They made the experience feel so personal and it helped me ease the nerves. As a gear head I loved every step of the fitting process from trying different shafts and clubs heads to seeing the numbers and improvements. A special shout-out to my fitter Chris O'Rourke for such an amazing experience and comprehensive fitting. He walked me through everything he was looking at and made me feel confident with my new clubs. I ended up getting put into the GT2 driver and hybrid, GT280 Mini Driver, T250 4 Iron, T150 5-PW, and the new SM11 wedges. The new clubs are expected to come in two weeks and I am looking forward to taking them on the courses for the 2026 season.

In my personal opinion, large retail stores tend to focus on sales that day at the expense of getting your best fit.
Going to a Titleist sponsored fitting and putting down the $100 earnest money, you can be sure that person is willing to take the full hour to find out your expectations and will be able to order a driver to the length you need. There is no upcharge for a custom order using stock components from any authorized dealer. If GG sold you a driver out of their inventory, that’s a red flag to me.
Did you try the shaft from your TSi driver, since it is the length that worked for you?

Hope you enjoy the new sticks! I went in for a GT fitting conducted through my local Golf Galaxy in mid-2025. The fitting was a great experience, but I had trouble generating the results I’d hoped for. Ball speed was 20 mph lower than my TSi2. I blame it on my swing, and maybe the fact that they had no way to lengthen the shaft by my normal 1”. Overall a fabulous looking club and a really good experience. I’m due for a new putter and intend on getting fitted for that as well. Considering a low/zero-torque model. As someone else mentioned, it would be great to hear from you with an update once you have some data points. Play well!

Any updates on how this shaft is working out for people? I just placed an order for T250 (5) and T150 (6-GW) with the 6.0 shafts. Titleist says 5 weeks, I say they’ll be here quicker. Excited to see how they’re going!

Project X Red iron shafts

Anyone try or been fit for these? I’m really impressed, was fit into the 6.0. I’m in Modus 105s now and it’s down to these two shafts. I used to hit the original Project X years ago, but switched to Nippon for a higher launch and softer feel.

If you have been fitted or tried these, please give me your thoughts on them. I like the idea of them matching up with the Project X wedge shafts in my SW and LW.

Was it all in a simulator? Or did you get to hit any outdoor shots? Know it’s winter but it looks like there are some covered bays.

Thinking of doing the fitting in the next few weeks, but would like to see true ball flights.

For me, going to graphite shafts has been the best thing ever. I completely understand about the rotator surgery, I have had both my shoulder's done now. Unfortunately it’s looking like I might have to have one shoulder redone. So soar most of the time, & can’t sleep on it, like before the first surgery.
Apparently I’m not stretching enough before going out to play. The Doc. also said that I need to stretch again after the round. And do some very quick cold icing. Just a little, like 10 minutes is all.
But I must say, the graphite shafts are a thumbs up! It’s just like a putter, all the weight is at the very end. I picked up an extra 15 yards. From the 6 iron to 9 iron, and my wedge's got way stronger.
Good luck when you decide to make the change over. But definitely get that “fitting” done !! That is a must, and guarantee it won’t be a waste of time or $$$..

Curious about others experience after several fittings. I have been fit for irons 3 times in the last 12 years, all by Titleist fitters, and all 3 fittings ended up with the same shaft. Odd that my first fitting recommended 2 degrees upright, but the 2nd and 3rd went 2 degrees flat after a rotator surgery and a regular routine of golf related exercise, confirming the benefits of a fitting when your health changes. I'm still considered somewhat of a hack, but I can say that whenever I get ahold of a club with the same shaft it just feels better than other shafted clubs. Also confirms my belief that the shaft is the most important part of a good fitting. Getting older now and will be considering inquiring about graphite next time. I use KBS Tour Lite and I hear that the KBS graphites have the same feel as their steel shafts. Will be interesting, and fun.

Can’t beat a good fitting. With 3 40g shaft options for driver, how different could they be? Well, one clearly was different enough to make the selection. Best wishes for aging with grace.

Has anyone done a recent iron fitting at Manchester Lane? I am debating upgrading my current 2023 T150/200s and considering scheduling a fitting at Manchester Lane. I have been fitted previously by Titleist reps at my local course…is the ML worth it?1

Shafts for fairway woods

Do you typically play the same shafts throughout your fairway woods or have them progressively heavier?

I was fit (through a Titleist fitting) for a GT3 driver with a Hzdrus 60g 6.0 shaft and a 16.5 degree GT2 with a Hzdrus 70g 6.0 shaft. Thinking about adding a 7 wood to the bag and wondering if I should stay in the Hzdrus 70g or move to the 80g.

For me,
Drivers in 60 gr.
Fairways wood in the 70 gr.
Hybrid in the 80 gr.

But I am always verify that swing weights are in D3 .

I use same brand. 55 in driver, 65 in fairways and 75 in hybrids. All regular shafts.
