I play prov1's and saw some practice balls at a really great price but which ball is "the practice ball"?

If you really want to practice and get best results, practice with the Prov1s. Most ranges use a lower grade golf ball, ones that can hold up to a lot of constant usage. Might try to find second hand Prov1s. Some private clubs offer Titleist premium balls on the range to their members.
  3. If I remember correctly it’s still a normal prov1 ball just has some kinda of paint or logo defect so they throw the practice logo on it

My course uses balls stamped practice on them. The ball model is on the opposite side. If you’re seeing them in a retail box, the box will have the ball model on it. Usually limited to pro v1 or v1x, avx models are out there too. Same goes with balls stamped TOUR, essentially the same non-perfect ball used at tour event ranges.

They don’t have to be any one ball. Most of what I see are now TourSoft but better clubs may use Pro-V1s. Less exclusive sites have to contend with the Tin Cup effect of users leaving a few in their pockets

One of the recycled ball sites has listed balls with TOUR in red. Supposedly from tour events from the driving range. Used, but not from being submerged. They’ve had both Pro-V1 and Pro-V1x available. I can’t for sure say this is true.
