I have played white and yellow ProV1’s over the years in all conditions. I see no difference in any aspect of golf ball performance. I usually play yellow because they are easier to see. I especially like it when I am the only guy in my group playing a yellow ball . It’s best to settle on one golf ball and play it all the time.

I've heard, read, and seen some things that say the ProV1x white goes further than the ProV1x yellow? Any truth to this?

ProV1 vs Tour Soft

Looking to switch for a better flight. Driver swing speed was SIM'd at 97mph and ball tends to float. Currently play the ProV1 because it's the BEST but maybe not the BEST for me? Any suggestions what to look for? Or is using the best ball out there simply the best for ALL swings?

Even the pro’s on tour use 4 Pro-V variants. So, no, the Pro-V1 does not suit/fit all.
On this web page look up Fittings and check ball fittings. You can check what primary advantages are of all Titleist balls. If you get an online fitting, you will be able to ask the person which 2 balls might be best for your game to see which you prefer.

Titleist options vs TM Tour Response

I currently play the TM Tour Response (sometimes TP5x), but considering switching. I'm about a 13 handicap with swing speeds around 80 for a 7-iron and around 100 for Driver. I want low spin on the driver and longer irons, but some decent spin with wedges. I generally like a softer feel when possible, but never a deal breaker if firmer and fitting the other parameters. Any suggestions from experience with the Titleist products would be appreciated!

While most of us use something that starts with Pro-V, none of us hit the exactly like you do. So whether it is Pro-V1, -V1x, -V1x Left Dash, or AVX, you’ll have to try the online fitting and then trial some sleeves of your best 2 options.
The Tour Response and TP5/TP5x only share a urethane cover. Without knowing which is preferable, or what your are looking for to improve, anyone here can only share what works for them.

Discoloration

Has anyone notice the newer models don’t hold their white color very long? I play the x and after 14 or 15 holes, the ball starts losing the white color and looks dirty, but it’s not dirty. I clean them on every green so I get a true roll. I played in a tourney this weekend and the ball I used on Saturday lost its luster and same with the new ball I used on Sunday.

Hakuna matata. Never gave it a thought until this discussion. Play on. Pros probably change balls every three holes, so not their problem.

Agree. Around the Charleston area, red means speed up. And I meet them at the next light. Funny isn't it. Have a lot of serious accidents and our insurance is high.

I remember Ian Fraser did a side by side a year or two ago on YouTube. As I recall the differences could be explained by strike. The exception being that the yellow felt a touch firmer in his opinion. I think he may have used a ProV1, not a ProV1X. I am team yellow more for sight purposes. However, I would love it if they would make the ProV1X yellow fully customizable like the white. I would love to be able to play a number aside from 1-4.

Ill have to keep this in mind.. Currently playing a Pro V1 but as i move into my late 40's ill be sure to look for slower swing speed options..

Just want to give my praise to the trufeel golf ball. It’s like a cheat code for certain courses when I need a ball that flies a little higher.

Just wondering if anybody has a favourite Titleist ball, and why?

I typically play ProV1s but bought a box of TruFeel balls this spring. Not a bad ball especially at that price point.

It stands to reason that the softer ball would work for some of us. Afterall, it's just another aspect of the game to consider for performance optimization based on individual capability. I started thinking about this when I asked myself why I was playing this or that club or ball or shaft or driver loft if I could not perform at the same level the professional is capable of. If the answer was no I don't have the same swing speed or swing efficiency or ball/club mechanics, then why am I using the same equipment characteristics the the professional is?

A simple clarifying fact for me is that I do not have the club head speed the professional has so I cannot compress the ball as the professional does. I have been looking at and experimenting with the TrueSoft and TruFeel balls, and I think the results are quite positive.

It does seem that there appears to be some discoloration involved over time. I was thinking too that the discoloration tendency and/or discoloration rate may not be the same from one type of Titleist to another (i.e., ProV/V1 vs AVX vs TourSoft vs TruFeel --- but I could be wrong. I suppose soil type and characteristics could also play a role - but to what level, I am uncertain. What say you?

Interesting observations, Dale!! I am not sure what is causing this because I clean the balls with a towel, no groves or brushes, with clean water, no detergents. I’m sure the courses here in the Naples, Florida area do use plenty of fertilizer.
I started noticing the difference with the 2025 version. I play an average of 170 rounds per year. That adds up to a lot of golf balls being purchased if they only stay white for 1 round. I do not see the discoloration with the yellow balls though.

I would be interested to hear what the Titleist scientists think as well!

Nope, but contributing factors can be golf course fertilizer, abrasive cleaning with brush-lined ball cleaners, or some strong soaps that might be used in cleaning buckets. I find that it takes 3 or 4 rounds for the sheen to wear off on my ProV1x’s.

I doubt there are ball collectors looking for a dozen so you probably are looking at a very small “value” for resale. You could always list them at a resale site that allows people to make an offer and see what happens. Ball collectors that are making money are the ones who have vintage feathery or gotta percha balls.
