  1. Would anybody know how often one does that? Is there a club/Registry for thosse who have done that?

Being 68 years young, I have no idea. Some day it will happen.

Came close after my 68th birthday. Three days after that special day I shot a 69. My brain got in the way and double bogied the last hole. As I look forward to another milestone next year, will turn 80, there just might be hope for me in the next decade. In the meantime, hakuna matata.

Probably not. And if you haven’t by age 70, a HIO is more likely after that age. Not a great number of low single digit handicap players in that age group.
  5. I don't know about a Registry, might be a cool thing for Titleist to log, like the hole in one recognition. In 50 years of playing I have never had a hole in one, but if I ever shoot my age, I will be buying the drinks and then some. Just hoping the game and my health hold out for another few years.

I always shoot my age. Problem is, I keep playing until I finish my round. :) At least it’s finally on the back nine.

Meh. My new goal is to keep my driver head speed higher than my age….

I don't think it's all that rare, especially as you age. Several of the men in the senior league (ages 60 and above) I belong to do so from time to time during the year. We play in accordance with USGA rules, so no gimmes, etc.

I turned 80 last fall and have shot my age or below over 100 times since I turned 72, but never before then. The first was the day after my 72nd birthday (shot 71, matching my lifetime low score). At the end of February this year, I shot 72 in a different local group that also competes in strict accordance with USGA rules, but is not considered a competition. After that one, the USGA adjusted my index, dropping me from 9.4 to 7.2. My WHS index today is 8.1.

As you can tell from the index, I frequently shoot above my age, My goal every time I play is to shoot 80 pr below, and is why I get number 74 on my custom Pro V1x through the Titlelist loyalty offer each spring. It is a terrific target score. I've been doing that since I turned 74 having decided that 70 or 72 were simply out of reach after ordering one of those numbers for a few years.

Being in generally good health helps a lot, and I work to maintain flexibility.

I turned 69 years old in February. I was 64 yo the first time I shot my age with a 63 on a par 72 course. I now play from the senior tees, but last year I shot my age or better 8 different times with 2 scores of 65 on a par 72 course. Missed out shooting my age last week when I bogeyed the 16th hole from 49 yards.

    Some years ago I shot a 68 (35-33), I was 36 at that time.

Now i'm 55, I have to wait a couple of years to play below my age

You're in that perfect window where shooting your age on a 9-hole course is doable!
  13. Ah ha!! good call lol
  14. Hoping for a world record to shoot a 14:)

I turn 60 in a few months, I wish shooting my age was even on the radar. Best round in recent years is a few 68's. Will be a momentous occasion for me, but the body will probably be in rough shape in 8-10 years. I've beaten myself pretty badly. I'll keep grinding though...
  16. I think I would really struggle shooting my age through 18 holes as I am 45 and currently playing off 24 but I have shot my age through 9 holes on a couple of occasions.

A friend just had a birthday and his cake said "it's easy to shoot your age, when you are 83"
  18. I wish I could shoot my age lol!!! I’m lucky to break 100 most days!
  19. For 9 holes it has happened 3 times this year. Will likely need to wait until I am late 70s and hopefully in good health to do it again

Playing from the senior tees, I Did it once last year at age 70 and have done it twice this year at age 71.

It's more common than people think. We had a gentleman at our club who had been tying or bettering his age since he was 65. He stopped playing at age 87. from 75 on he almost always tied or bettered his age. He was well known in the Southern MD area.
