Scratched 9R Head

Hi,

I have no idea how these scratches have appeared on my 9R and they are frustrating. I have checked the head cover and it was all clear. Would Titleist take a look at this if I sent it back?

If you didn't catch it the moment you got it, it's not something they will have anything to do with. You could try a Magic Eraser, but they are a light abrasive, so be careful.

Re-shafting 11R OC Putter

Anyone reshaft the 11R OC with graphite, if so is this a .355, .370 or .390 diameter, know Scotty sometimes uses different diameters.

Hi everyone just was curious if anyone else had gone back to a blade after experimenting with a phantom. I had been using a 9.2r which is beautiful putter, but I seem to have struggled with distance control and shorter putts.

Went back to my Newport 2 and had probably the best putting round I have had in a year yesterday. Needless to say I will sticking my Newport 2 for the foreseeable future, but curious if anyone else in the TT community experienced this also.

I will also throw a couple pictures on here as well ;)

I have a Newport that I always go back to .,have other putters that I use at times including Newport 2,Catalina and a couple of mallets The thing for me is I feel a mallet putter helps me square in to my desired putting line better .When I go back to my Newport putter I always stroke it better

I have always been a blade guy, Newport is my model, bought the first Scotty Cameron newport when it released in mid 90's, still have it, but currently use the Special Select Newport - I tried other models before getting the Special Select newport, but Newport just always worked best for me, and the look is classic. I do have the original Futura from early 2000's 03 I think, but never used it, got it because it was so unique, but kept the Newport in the bag

I have used the Phantom with really good results but just love the feel of my Newport better and thats what im currently using.

I've always used a blade putter. Never been fortunate to play a Scotty, but all my putters have been blades. I currently use an old school blade that allows me to put both right and left. Thinking about getting something new, but not sure my game is ready for one.

Hey y'all!

My girlfriend bought a Phantom 5.5 back in January and the head is showing some really bad signs of rusting already. She hasn't used it more than maybe 10 times on the course and takes really good care of her gear. Never leaving it in her car, never lets it go uncleaned after a round etc.

I have had a 5.5 for almost 3 seasons now and don't have any signs of rust at all. Any suggestions? I repainted the soul so I'm afraid a warranty won't be an option.

Would love and appreciate any and all kind recommendations!

The putter does not have a applied finish. Rather the stainless steel is surface is textured by being blasted with a type of media (various sizes of sand or other abrasive particles). This creates the silver-ish dull/matte surface/texture on seen on most Cameron stainless steel putters

I've seen this before on finished metal products. Sounds like you did your best taking care of it. The putter has a non-glare finish applied to it, and it looks like the finish wasn't a proper mix, or the application process was off a bit. Moister will find its way into the tiniest imperfections and rust the steel underneath, creating the appearance in your photos. Contact the store and see if they will do a warranty claim.

Two issues I try to warn people about. One is the frequent use of fertilizer on the greens and how corrosive it is on putters. If you get those granules in the putter cover, they will create rust spots pretty quickly. The other issue is moisture in the headcovers. Wiping down your putter with a wet cloth and immediately putting it in the cover will trap moisture and morning dew can also get headcovers wet. If I play a round where there is any moisture or fertilizer, I pull all headcovers off after the round and clean putter, driver, and fairways and leave the covers off until I know the covers are completely dry. Maybe I am over protective but that’s my routine.

I tried a mallet when I got back into golf (Phantom 5.5), but did a fitting and I play better with a blade.

Just bought the same model and going from a newport to this has been a game changer. The quality is everything you would expect from a scotty just a shame in the UK we can't get Scotty custom head covers without paying huge premiums or send off the putting to the customer shop and being without it for 6-8weeks.

Just wanted to come on here and let everyone know that I am very impressed with the 11R OC. I have had a LAB which is good, but the way the 11R OC sets up to me is just better. If anyone is interested in feedback just let me know and I will do my best to answer any questions you have!

I’m in the same boat.
I have the Phantom 5.5 and like the setup and look but I struggled with distance control and shorter putts.

Now I’m back to my Newport 2 for a while and will see.
Removed the large SC Paddle grip on my Phantom 5.5 and switched back to a pistolero plus grip.
Newport 2 has the midsize matador grip.

No mention of where it was purchased. Was it purchased from a Titleist account, on eBay. See issues below, that can cause rusting on golf clubs. If it was purchased thru a Titleist account (golf shop, retail store, etc) take it back to that store with your sales receipt and have them contact Titleist customer service.

Cleaning and Care for Titleist Golf Clubs
Titleist drivers, woods, hybrids, irons and wedges can be cleaned with mild soap and water and then dried with a soft cotton cloth. We recommend your golf clubs and headcover be completely dry before storage. Storing golf clubs in wet headcovers can lead to rust and corrosion and may not be covered by the warranty.

Cleaning and Care for Carbon Steel Scotty Cameron Putters
The unique feel of certain Scotty Cameron by Titleist putter models results from the use of milled carbon steel heads. This material is susceptible to oxidation and rusting if left damp. To preserve the natural finish of these putter models, you are urged to follow a few simple guidelines:

• Always dry your putter at the end of the day. We also suggest drying the putter a few times during the round.
• Always use a dry headcover.

Can you share some photos? It would be rare to see rusting on a stainless steel putter like the phantom 5.5. Maybe if the putter was wet and in a putter cover for a significant time (months) some small areas of surface rust "could" appear.

I see all these social media posts about Cameron Young's putter, and hear that it's a great option for players who've used a Newport. Ok, great. That's me, and I love the more rounded look, and single, long sight line. Why hasn't this been brought to retail? I just found, and recently purchased a 2024 Phantom 9.5, probably in a moment of panic. I love the sound and feel. I can't stand the sharper edges though, and don't get me started on the grip. This full contact, chain link grip is the worst grip I've ever seen on a Scotty. Couldn't wait to replace it. C'mon, Scotty! Make the 9.5 R. Don't put a Mike Tyson- like face tattoo for the alignment either. I've seen those in the Tour Only line.
